What is BDSM?

What is BDSM?

BDSM is a compound acronym. This means that some of the letters in it stand for more than one thing. Let’s break it down and find out what these letters mean.

B – Bondage

D – Domination

S – Sadism / Submission

M – Masochism

Decryption

Bondage is the practice of tying people up or otherwise restraining them for your mutual pleasure.

Domination is the act of taking control and commanding someone, usually used in a sexual sense. Discipline is the act of punishing or inflicting pain, used here in an erotic context between two consenting adults.

Sadism refers to the state of mind of a person who enjoys causing pain to another person, while submission refers to a person who is willing to give up control and authority to another person for sexual gratification.

Finally, masochism refers to the state of mind of those who enjoy receiving pain – usually for sexual reasons.

Other meanings of the term BDSM

There are still people who insist that BDSM covers only these six very narrowly defined activities. But most people recognize that the term has broadened over time to encompass a whole range of sexual activities and proclivities.

The term BDSM can now include people who enjoy particular fetishes—sexual fascinations with things that are primarily considered nonsexual. It can also include transgender people, or others who have chosen to change or cultivate their sexual identity in some way.

The term can also include people who do not have sex at all, or who consider pain, submission, and domination to be completely non-sexual. It can also include people who have no deviant desires, but are simply curious about their lifestyle. This could include people who enjoy leather, fantasy, whips and chains, food, feet. It could include people who are strictly monogamous, or people who frequently have orgies, or who have never had sex at all.

In short, the term BDSM is used as a catch-all term to describe a group of people who have something unusual about their sexuality. Two people may call themselves BDSM enthusiasts, but the meaning of the term is completely different. It’s best not to make assumptions – in fact, most people would prefer that you ask exactly what BDSM means to them, rather than just making an assumption and proceeding from there.

There are a few other terms that the BDSM community sometimes uses to refer to itself. Most of these are also vague and cover a wide range of things. You might hear people who are into BDSM refer to themselves as kinksters, fetishists, or deviants. The meaning is generally the same, and is always pretty fluid.

It might be helpful to take a moment to think about what BDSM means to you. What does it entail? What types of fetishes are you interested in? What’s completely off limits? And what do you think when someone tells you they’re into BDSM?

The steps:
1

In domination, the important thing is to take control of the act and your couple, by means of accessories, clothes, games and sexual positions that will allow you to be the master or mistress of the encounter.

The role of submissive is played by the one who undergoes domination, while in sadomasochism practices the key lies in the alliance between pain and pleasure. The sadist is the person who leads the dance while the masochist is the one who undergoes the practices that cause pain.

The trend is to associate BDSM with sadism or perverse sexual practices. Many normal couples practice them to some degree to spice things up and break the routine of their sexual relations. For example, you can occasionally resort to dominating your partner and have fun with "rougher" sex or opt for bondage and tie him up to live new experiences.

6
BDSM also evokes an entire subculture with a long history full of codes in which emergency words, role-playing and several types of relationships appear, making it a complex system with multiple facets.

7
Accessories are an integral part of BDSM and will vary depending on the practices you choose. In bondage, ropes and restraints (from handcuffs to more complex systems) are very important, while for domination and submission, leather accessories such as clothing and whips are used. Sadomasochism requires accessories that make the connection between pain and pleasure.

8
Whether it is a light and innocent sexual fantasy at home or a much more elaborate and regular act, to practice BDSM the agreement of both partners will be necessary, and the pleasure will thus be shared instead of being experienced only by one of the two.

9
Dress code, fantasy and roles are at the heart of this practice, and so it can be used in a wide variety of situations, whether it's a way to break the routine for some couples or something more usual. You score points

10
Although BDSM involves complex codes and certain customs, it is nonetheless another way of having fun that should not arouse fear or horror. For example, the fantasy of dominator/dominated is practiced by all types of couples, as is the case for bondage or for relationships where one partner is lightly "punished" by the other.
